Yves Carcelle was born in France in 1948.
He graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique (1966) and holds an MBA from INSEAD (France).
He began his career with Spontex in 1970 before joining Blenda Pharm laboratories in 1974, where he was appointed Director of the Absorba Division – Poron in 1979 and president of Descamps in 1985.
Yves Carcelle joined LVMH in 1989 as Strategic Director and became Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton in 1990. He is a member of the LVMH Executive Committee and a board member of several LVMH fashion companies, including Berluti, Marc Jacobs, Loewe and Fendi.
Yves Carcelle is also a board member of the Comité Colbert and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
He is a Chevalier of the French Legion of Honor and an Honorary Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
