LVMH Young Artists' Award

The theme of the 9th LVMH Young Artists' Award was: "Matisse and Picasso: two visions of the object" as a tribute to the "Matisse-Picasso" exhibition which was on show at the Galeries Nationales du Grand Palais in Paris from September 22 to January 6.

The Matisse-Picasso exhibition broke all records during its three-month stay: more than 600,000 visitors.

The 9th edition of the LVMH Young Artists' Award was very successful: 189 works were submitted by candidates from 35 countries, representing 21 foreign art schools.

President Jean-Michel Alberola, artist, was joined in his task by:

- France Huser, journalist at the Nouvel Observateur magazine
- Guy Boyer, Editor in chief of Connaissance des Arts
- Isabelle Monod-Fontaine, Assistant Director of the
National Museum of Modern Art at the Georges Pompidou Center,
  administrator of the Matisse-Picasso exhibit.
- Anne Baldassari, Curator of the Picasso Museum,
   administrator of the Matisse-Picasso exhibit
- Henri-Claude Cousseau, Director of the Paris Academy of
   Fine Arts (ENSBA)
- Sophie Fouace, Director of the Association Le Pont Neuf
- Martin Bethenod, Visual Arts Delegate of the Ministry of
  Culture and Communication, Paris
- Hervé Mikaeloff, Responsible for Visual Arts, Caisse des
  Dépôts et Consignations (housing and public works fund)
- Emmanuel Perrotin, Director of the Emmanuel Perrotin
  Gallery, Paris
- Almine Rech, Director of the Almine Rech Gallery, Paris
